After her successful debut into the wine making world with an artfully created 2006 Syrah, Annika Sorentam’s second vintage is a superb 2008 Chardonnay. Continuing her partnership with Wente Vineyards in Livermore Valley, Annika has expanded her label with this classic and delightful varietal. Long, cool barrel aging in French, American, Eastern European and neutral oak for 17 months imbues the luscious fruit and citrus flavors with rich oaky tones. Served well chilled, this deeply hued Chardonnay expresses floral notes alongside vanilla and the pervasive ground spice oak character. As it breathes and approaches room temperature, lush grassy tones mix with lemon, leaving the finish slightly acidic and refreshing. - Steve Paulovich |
