The Master Suite offers an expansive room with three sets of mirrored closets, two walk-in closets, and custom flush doors that open to an office with a built-in desk station. The master bath is finished in travertine slab marble and includes a dual-sink vanity, bidet, and soaking tub with picture window that looks out onto the garden. Doors in the master suite unfold to a relaxing sunroom with a cupola-domed ceiling that overlooks tiled flooring with walls of windows bringing the garden into the room. A second sunroom has a more dramatic look with a wood-burning fireplace, cedar-panel walls, and French doors that open to a wrap-around deck lined with railings taken from the original Crocker estate. A unique tower room boasts a two-story domed ceiling and has surrounding windows overlooking sweeping vistas of Mr. Church's garden. The house wouldn’t be complete without a wine cellar, which is built into the hillside and stays naturally cool year round. Custom antique metal doors from France welcome entry into the room and can house over 3,000 bottles. The garden terrace is shaded by a pergola and is perfect for outside entertainment. Exotic artifacts are scattered throughout the grounds and create a sense of wonder as you saunter through the property. There is a 17-foot carved wooden totem pole from British Columbia, a hand forged bell from the SS Susan, and an iron crest from the original Bank of America building in San Francisco. A fern grotto, upright Ginkgo, oaks, an old southern magnolia, redwoods, an alder tree and mature perimeter foliage make this the perfect retreat for the luxury discerning client. - Mary Murphy |
