gostoso boutique Tel. + 1 (631) 597 9010 gostoso "on the harbor" Tel. + 1 (631) 597 9020 Featuring more than 20 designers, both stores also carry exclusive products to the US. Brazilian designer Gilson Martins' impeccably designed accessories are a hot commodity at Gostoso. If it weren't for Jean-Manuel's sense of practicality, Peter claims the store would be filled with Martins bags. From luggage to wallets, Gostoso has a wide selection of colorful accessories reminiscent of Brazil. Another exclusive designer is Avshalom Rave. This Israeli designer produces exquisite t-shirts and jewelry. Each item is intricately designed and the jewelry is hand painted. In addition to the many exclusive products they carry, Gostoso also features Rosa Cha, John Bartlett, T Christopher and Zola Price to name a few. The Rosa Cha swimwear line is the biggest seller. When introduced, they could hardly keep the collection in stock. Jean-Manuel and Peter even created their own private label. As Fire Island changes, the hotel next to the harbor store is being completely remodeled in the fall and Gostoso is here to stay. Although the stores close in the fall, there is such a high demand for products that there is a web site in the works. Other business owners affectionately refer to the store as "Bergdorf's of the Sea" or "The Brazilian Colette." As the Brazilian name Gostoso implies, which means tasty, delicious or hot, everything in this boutique is a treat. - Jillian E. Sorgini |
