"Let me know if you have any questions because there is a story about EVERYTHING," Peter L. Brundige reveals as his opening line to his clients. While each designer item in his shop has its own unique story, perhaps even more interesting is the story of the store itself. Now open for its second season, the exclusive boutique Gostoso seems to be more of a long-established staple on Fire Island than a new shop.

In late March 2009, when Peter and Jean-Manuel Pourquet, his friend and business partner, learned that there was space available to open a store, they seized the opportunity. Without hesitation, they signed the lease on the spot with the goal of opening the store Memorial Day weekend- a mere eight weeks away.
