From the Editor

Welcome to the summer issue of LUXETIGERS. As most of you already know, our magazine still in its infancy and as such, we are constantly launching new sections. Globetrotter, one of the most exciting sections for us in this issue, is our new travel section. And, since this is a summer issue, we decided to take a mini vacation and made our way to the newly remodeled Catalina Island, off the coast of Long Beach, California. We had a wonderful time at the Pavilion Hotel and dining at the Avalon Grill, a restaurant that had been opened for an entire week prior to our visit. In spite of that, the food and drinks were excellent as editor Steve Paulovich attests to in his story in Foodie. We also explored the island’s 1930s past and even went zip-lining which is just one of the many various outdoor activities one can enjoy on Catalina Island. As you’ve come to expect, talented, beautiful women are a constant source of inspiration for us and of course, we needed a model for our cover. We found the perfect candidate in Lydia Hearst who is not only a highly sought-after supermodel but also an heiress who loves fashion and therefore, became a natural fit for our Style de Luxe section. You'll be pleasantly surprised to learn about the personality behind that gorgeous face.

Islands were also on the mind of Beauty editor, Jillian E. Sorgini, who writes about her visit to Gostoso in World Class Shopping. Located in Fire Island Pines, Gostoso is the brainchild of two former Lanvin employees who've opened not one but two seasonal boutiques, featuring an exclusive selection of international products. One is beach-y and the other one is boutique-y.

In fashion we look at the vibrant Ana Locking spring-summer 2010 collection and get a glimpse into the mind of Madrid’s Ana Gonzalez, an utterly modern designer who happens to have excellent taste in everything. In Better Living, Real Estate Editor Mary Murphy highlights a former Carriage House that has been turned in to a luxury home and since every home needs great art, we spoke to the fearless Shamim Momin, the contemporary art curator who is taking Los Angeles by storm with her LAND organization.

As usual we were also in Napa, this time visiting Peju Province Winery, where the H.B. Cabernet Sauvignon is a must in every wine lover's cellar. Last but not least, in Beauty, Victoria Scavo gives you some background on "go-to makeup master for women of color" Sam Fine, while Korean skincare brand Sulwhasoo is the focus in products du jour.

Enjoy the summer,
