Inspired by dreams, Marie Antoinette’s French country side, Deborah Turbeville’s photography and other romantic notions, Valentino’s Spring 2012 Haute Couture collection triumphantly redefines contemporary glamour. Head Designers Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli embarked on a romantic journey with water prints in taffeta, silky cottons, chiffons, opulent embroidery, and layer upon layer of lace and organza resulting in ethereal evening looks that will surely shine their brightest on the red carpet and in high profile weddings. Virtually free of impurities, the collection highlights an innocent brand of femininity with nary a high-slit skirt or overtly sexual stylings yet, in an age of over-the-top theatrics on catwalks, this new proposition of allure is stylish and refreshing indeed. Looks are updated via the use of elegant flats in lieu of high heels, a forsaking of almost all accessories and a very successful pairing of tapered pants with dazzlingly embroidered blouses. Sheer Bishop sleeves look simultaneously sophisticated and delicate while a predominance of high and embroidered necklines give an air of restrained elegance that is sweet, graceful and very modern. Above are some of my favorite looks which you can click on, to view the enlarged version and you can view the fashion show video on  YouTube  but I suggest that you visit  V A L E N T I N O  to view the entire collection in its full splendor.   – Victor Vargas
